Audiovisual Club

The A.V. Club is an entertainment newspaper and website published by The Onion. It appears in the print editions of The Onion and online at www.avclub.com.

What does A.V. stand for?

"Audiovisual." Back in olden times, a school's audiovisual club would be composed of a bunch of geeks who actually knew how to run the filmstrip and film projectors, and were typically deeply involved in things like audio fidelity and newfangled speakers. We're proud to carry on the tradition of people immersed in pop culture and entertainment media to a somewhat obsessive degree.

FamousWhy

What is FamousWhy?

Continuously adapted to our visitors interests the site covers a large range of "famous" related topics, written by contributors and quality assured by our moderators. It also provides with the possibility to join the community and make new friends, share opinions and enjoy a virtual world of technology and popularity.

The key idea behind this website is to encourage visitors to contribute, explaining and highlighting the "fame" reasons of people and things.

All this is monitored by moderators, so that we can all contribute and give arguments for or against certain issues, with respect, dignity and non descrimination, keeping in mind that all people have a right to an opinion.

Post Apocalyptic Book Club

Apocalyptic fiction is a sub-genre of science fiction that is concerned with the end of civilization due to a catastrophe such as nuclear warfare, pandemic, impact event, cybernetic revolt, Technological Singularity, Dysgenics, supernatural phenomena, Ecological disaster, resource depletion or some other general disaster. Post-apocalyptic fiction is set in a world or civilization after such a disaster. The time frame may be immediately after the catastrophe, focusing on the travails or psychology of survivors, or considerably later, often including the theme that the existence of pre-catastrophe civilization has been forgotten (or mythologized). Post-apocalyptic stories often take place in an agrarian, non-technological future world, or a world where only scattered elements of technology remain. There is a considerable degree of blurring between this form of science fiction and that which deals with dystopias.

FanPop

It's tough to keep up with the world wide web when it keeps getting bigger and bigger each day. Wouldn't it be great if someone organized the web into topics you care about? We thought so too, so we created Fanpop. Fanpop is the one-stop destination for real people with real passions to find real content and community. Remember when the web was small enough that you could look at a directory of the best sites on the web for a certain area of interest? We missed those days, but felt like the community should be the editors who contribute and decide what the best content on the web for a given topic should be. We like to think of Fanpop as the next generation of fansites created for the fans by the fans. It's a one-stop destination for fans of anything and everything and the place to find fellow devoted fans. We wanted to make discovering and sharing content fun, easy and social.
